I was invited by Canon (via my friend John) to an action day to try out some new kit today. Since I’d like a new 5D Mk IV, it was a great opportunity to try it out in low light conditions, and wow! It’s fantastic. We went to Holme Pierrepont to take photos of people in the adventure zone and it didn’t even start until 6pm as it started to go dark (mainly as there wasn’t anyone using it until then). All these shots are taken with no flash, so are just the light conditions there, which was just the floodlights. I also borrowed a f2.8 lens version of my 70-200mm which helped a lot but whilst some of them are a little grainy due to the camera choosing ISO 12,800 for the majority it’s hardly a surprise, but wow again!

I couldn’t have taken any of these with my current setup. Specifically, I wouldn’t push my 5D Mk II above ISO 800, and even lower with people’s faces, but the Mk IV is awesome. I’ve ordered one.
